Ecological Services

WETLAND SERVICES

DuBois and Associates specializes in the assessment, study, surveying, and recording of threatened and endangered species throughout the mid-Atlantic region. DuBois and Associates has conducted over 700 threatened or endangered species studies in the past 20 years on numerous protected floral and faunal species.

Our ecological services range from threatened & endangered species, habitat construction, restoration & management, vernal pool sampling, soil analysis & mapping and much more...

THREATENED & ENDANGERED SPECIES

We at DuBois and Associates specializes in the assessment, study, surveying, and recording of threatened and endangered species throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Potential development areas often lie within threatened and endangered species habitat, which may result in a significant amount of study and planning in order for development to continue.

VERNAL POOL SAMPLING

Vernal pools are ephemeral areas of ponding that support critical breeding habitat for both common and imperiled amphibian species. Biologists at DuBois and Associates conduct amphibian calling surveys, egg mass surveys, and larval sampling surveys to document obligate vernal pool amphibians. This is critical in the development planning stage may be regulated under certain state regulations.

LIMNOLOGICAL & RESTORATION SERVICES
Lakes, Streams, Rivers, & Esturaries

Since 2000, DuBois and Associates has performed numerous assessments on water bodies throughout 5 states.  In the early 2000’s Mr. DuBois prepared and constructed numerous creation and restoration projects on construction sites throughout New Jersey.

Other Ecological Services Include:
  • Invasive Vegetation Removal and Management;

  • Vegetation Community Analysis;

  • Botanical Surveys;

  • Ecological Evaluations (EE);

  • Ecological Risk Assessments (ERAs);

  • Critical Wildlife Habitat Management Plans;

  • Land Acquisition Services for Mitigation;

  • Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecological Surveys;

  • Wildlife Radio-telemetry Tracking;

  • Bat Acoustic and Mist-netting Studies;

  • Avian Protection Plans.

BAT MIST NET & ACOUSTIC SERVICES

DuBois and Associates staff scientists are approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to perform mist net and acoustic surveys for both the Indiana bat and northern long-eared bat. We perform active surveys by deploying mist nets in the field to physically capture bats and record biological data, as well as perform passive acoustic surveys...

HABITAT CONSTRUCTION, RESTORATION &
MANAGEMENT

Biologists at DuBois and Associates provide project proponents, planners, and private homeowners with plans that conserve, create, restore or enhance aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitat while at the same time accomplishing the objectives of proposed development.

ECOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS & ECOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS

Scientists at DuBois and Associates prepare Ecological Evaluations (EEs) and Ecological Risk Assessments (ERAs) for environmentally sensitive natural resources (ESNR) associated with contaminated sites and/or wetland mitigation banks.

ENVIRONMENTAL & BIOLOGICAL CONSTRUCTION MONITORING

Environmental and biological oversight is performed during various construction operations within and surrounding environmentally sensitive areas.  We ensure that best management practices are adhered to during all phases of field construction operations and that project activities are conducted in a manner that is environmentally sound.
